Tinder and Duolingo Help Matches Become Fluent in Flirting
Now 100,000 Tinder members can learn to flirt in 40 languages with a free month of Duolingo Plus

LOS ANGELES - April 14, 2021 —  While international vacations are on pause, millions of daters are taking flight with Tinder’s Passport. Yet, 76% of members using Passport are making matches in a country that speaks a language different than their own. To avoid flirtations getting lost in translation, Tinder is partnering with Duolingo to give 100,000 Tinder members a free month of Duolingo Plus.

Starting today, Tinder members can ditch Google Translate and take up free lessons on Duolingo to better communicate with their long distance connections. With lessons in 40 languages, Duolingo Plus will allow redeeming members to have a premium experience and unlimited learning.

“Passport is one of our most popular paid features and since it’s been free we’ve had our busiest day of 2021,” said Udi Milo, VP Product, Tinder. “In the first week alone there was a 25% increase in the number of matches made as a result of the feature, so a partnership with Duolingo will help our members spark conversations easily, no translation needed.”

Based on the most popular countries Tinder members are using the Passport feature to match in, here are the best languages to learn to improve your global dating game:

  1. English: 1 in 5 Brazilians using the Passport feature are swiping in the US
  2. Spanish: Madrid is the 5th most popular city destination globally
  3. French: The United States is the #1 country using Passport in Paris
