LOS ANGELES, August 13th, 2026 - Double Date Island is back. Tinder's original dating series, where friendship is put to the test, premieres today on TikTok, with new episodes dropping daily.
Inspired by Tinder's Double Date feature, the series follows best friend duos who swap the group chat for the ultimate dating experience: navigating dates, tackling challenges and backing each other every step of the way as their journey builds toward the finale in Portugal. With twists, turns and plenty of unforgettable moments, only one pair will earn bragging rights and a dream getaway.
Following local casting held across the UK, USA, Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany and Australia, 50 best friend pairs earn their place at auditions. There, friendships are put to the ultimate test as the bestie duos pitch each other to the room, debate their hottest dating takes, and prove just how well they really know each other by finishing one another's sentences. Only the strongest duos made the cut, with 32 pairs securing their place at the beach house in Portugal.
Once in the beach house, every date counts. After each double date, pairs rate their experience using Tinder's 'Flame Scale' in the Double Date Group Chat, scoring everything from chemistry and connection to whether they'd use the Swipe Right™ feature on that pair again.
The highest-scoring duos then earn a coveted place in the global finale in Portugal, where the remaining eight pairs went head-to-head with duos from around the world. After a whirlwind of international double dates, friendship-fueled challenges and plenty of surprises, just one pair is crowned the Double Date Island champions.
From hundreds of hopefuls, just six best friend pairs landed a spot at the US auditions, where the competition, and the double dating, really began.

Paolo Lorenzoni, Senior Vice President of EMEA Marketing at Tinder, said: “At Tinder, we're always looking for ways to help people spark something new. We know young singles are craving more natural, low-pressure ways to meet people, and that's exactly what our Double Date feature delivers. It's been a huge hit with Gen Z, who love using it to turn dating into something more social and less high-stakes.
“Double Date Island” is a fun extension of that idea, putting friendship at the heart of the dating experience while allowing genuine connections to develop. TikTok is the perfect home for the series, giving audiences a front-row seat to every date, challenge and unforgettable moment as the drama unfolds.”
The launch comes as new research from Tinder finds almost two-thirds of young daters (63%¹) prefer more low-pressure ways to meet people, and more than a third of Gen Z (37%¹) plan to go on a group or double date this year.
Follow the journey, meet the duos and see who takes home the title by watching every episode on @Tinder’s TikTok page.
Double Date Island premieres on TikTok on Thursday, August 13th, with new episodes dropping daily.
